Live in the moment
Everything you are looking for is already within you.
All we have is this very moment. The past is already gone and only exists in our memory. The future has not arrived yet and we don’t know what will happen.
Usually, the human mind is caught in the past or the future. We constantly think of things which have already happened and can’t be changed. What could I have done better? What does this person now think about me? Did I look stupid? Most of the thoughts about the past are around the topic, of not feeling good or worthy enough. When we think about the future, we try to prepare ourselves for upcoming situations. What will happen, how do I react, what will be the best outcome. If I have this or that I will finally be happy. We follow our cravings and desires. We think we will be happy if we have achieved something.

What we forget in such moments is, that neither the past nor the future holds our happiness. Happiness comes from within you, not from the outside. As soon as we have achieved something we desired, we are not happier, as we already crave the next thing – this is how the human mind works. Always craving for constant gratification. And social media and advertisement promote exactly that. If you have something you will be happy. But what kind of happiness is that? Only if we recognize that all we need is already within us, we can live in peace, harmony, and happiness.
If we live in the present moment, accepting situations as they are, without attachment to the outcome or judgment, we can consciously make a choice of how we are going to react. Your longings and desires are already fulfilled if you look inside. Happiness is a state of mind, which you can create. Practicing non-attachment and non-judgment is the first step towards recognizing the present moment and that happiness is already within you. Practicing mindfulness is just one way to connect with the present moment.
